Park District staff will begin making ice when overnight temperatures drop in the low teen's, and the 7-day forecast has highs not exceeding 30 degrees. Once work on the ice rink begins, it typically takes 3-5 days to complete.
When the ice rink is up and running, a green flag/red flag system will be used at the ice rink to notify residents the days the ice rink is open/closed. A green flag indicates the ice rink is open, and a red flag indicates the ice rink is closed. The ice rink will be lighted from 4:00 pm to 9:00 pm daily, when the green flag is posted.
